Hey, I'm Prateek.
Like many others on the path to Financial Independence and Early Retirement (FIRE), my journey started with an Excel spreadsheet. It worked well at first, tracking basic income and expenses. But as life got more complex, so did the spreadsheet.
I needed to account for India's unique tax regimes, the nuances of EPF and PPF compounding, fluctuating inflation rates, changing jobs, buying a house, and market volatility. Soon, the spreadsheet became a fragile, tangled web of formulas. I wanted to move out of Excel-based calculators and build something robust.
Why I Built plannF
I looked for software that could handle this complexity elegantly. Most tools were either overly simplistic calculators or clunky enterprise software built for financial advisors, not individuals.
plannF was born out of personal necessity. I wanted a beautifully designed, highly flexible simulator that respected user privacy (which is why plannF runs entirely in your browser with local-first storage).
